Accepting your body doesn’t mean being okay with staying at an uncomfortable weight for the rest of your life.
Accepting yourself as you are in this moment is simply acknowledging what you’re working with to make the change you want. It’s befriending your body so you can make positive change together.
It means buying jeans that fit you right now because you want to work with your body instead of against it.
Your body loves you. It wants you to thrive and tries its best to get your attention if something is off.
Reaching for food when you’re not physically hungry is one way it acts out when all other efforts to get your attention have been overlooked.
Accepting your body is being willing to make it an ally in meeting your emotional needs.
What needs is your body trying to let you know that you’re not getting? Love? Belonging? Safety? Freedom? What do you know you need that you don’t have?
Take a breath and place your hand on your belly. Listen to what your body is trying to tell you.
This is what accepting your body is all about. It’s about paying attention. It’s about recognizing your body as a lifelong partner that knows what’s best for you. It’s about being sweet and curious with yourself no matter what you just ate. It’s about following the instructions your body tells you to get your needs met.
