Does stress cause you to overeat? Do you sometimes start eating and not notice you're full until it's too late and you feel sick? Do you get overwhelmed by emotions that feel too intense to handle?
I've been there. I've struggled with almost every eating disorder imaginable. I used to feel crippled by my emotions, and eating was the only way I knew how to deal.
At a certain point I got fed up. I refused to continue living a life of battling with my body, restrictive dieting, constantly tracking myself, and feeling awful all the time.
I went on a wild journey to heal my relationship with food and my body. I read all the books, went to every workshop I could find, and worked with tons of coaches and healers.
And I discovered what works.
What works is self-kindness. What works is slowing down. It's taking a deep breath and softening in your chair. It's listening to what your body wants, right now, in this moment, and acting on it.
What works is having the courage to stand up for yourself. To say no. To take up space and own it. To stop hiding and playing small. To feel safe in your body and be yourself.
What works is being willing to feel good, being willing to give yourself the comfort and pleasure you deserve, and making your personal needs a priority.
The truth is, many of us are programmed to do the opposite. Many of us focus on others before ourselves. We say yes when we need to say no. We hide our true selves and try to fit into inauthentic roles. And we may not pay attention to how our bodies feel.
If you're anything like I was, you may not even know what it means to listen to your body... I was so afraid of what my body might tell me if I listened, I'd ignore it completely. And when I finally DID listen, I didn't understand what my body was trying to say. All I felt was pain and discomfort and fear.
I've discovered how to translate the body's messages into meaningful, helpful information. I've discovered that, no matter how scary it seems, our bodies are on our side. Our bodies want what's best for us. Our bodies are not our enemies.
Our bodies hold essential, ancient wisdom, designed to lead us home to who we really are. Designed to help us shape deeply satisfying lives. Lives aligned with who we really are.
Learning how to reconnect with the body doesn't have to take years, like it did for me. With the right tools and guidance, transformation can be quick.
I've created a unique and powerful blend of effective techniques, backed by two distinguished coaching certifications, to help women reconnect with their bodies' wisdom, uncover essential unmet emotional needs, and co-create strategies for deep satisfaction so food no longer becomes the go-to for help. Plus, my methods are designed to provide lasting transformation without dragging out the healing process longer than it needs to be.
It really works—I am more in love with my body than I ever knew possible, and the amazing women I work with continue to experience powerful transformation. From a client:
"Allison helped me to heal the bonds of love and connection with my body. Now she and I work together to get my needs met, explore the rocky coasts where past fear meets present reality and live life from a place of wholeness rather than separation. If you want to heal the relationship with your body, take Allison up on her program. It will be time well spent."
My deepest wish is for women to feel amazing in their bodies, eat with self-love and empowerment, and treat themselves with the respect they deserve. I want to help women create lives that truly fill them up so food doesn't become a substitute for fulfillment.
