This is a time of change.
Can you feel it? It's now fall—the season that most commonly reminds us of the inevitability of change. Plus, the powerful full moon eclipse last weekend has brought about massive transformation for many people.
For my friends, clients and myself, change is happening at an alarming rate these days. It seems we are all being called to learn how to "rest" in the unknown. To get more comfortable with a sense of insecurity and uncertainty. To recognize the truth that we never really know what's going to happen next!
Change is inevitable. And we can leverage the energy of this amplified season to decide which way we want to change, in which direction we want to grow.
If you want to change the way you see, feed, move, and feel about your body, now's a perfect time. And it all starts with making a commitment to yourself.
I believe that making a commitment, a claim, a statement, is the first step towards creating intentional, lasting transformation (writing it down makes it even more powerful)!
“…The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.”
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
This is why one of the first things I have my clients do is create a personal manifesto for how they want to relate to their bodies.
Here is mine:
I commit to a loving, respectful relationship with my body
I commit to paying attention to my body and doing my best to maintain its balance moment to moment
I commit to moving my body in ways that feel nourishing, strengthening, and pleasurable every day
I commit to remembering my body is sacred and that what it tells me gives me access to something much wiser than my mind
I commit to thanking my body daily for all it does for me
